< THE PISCINE >

The Piscine (from the French word for "swimming pool") is the last step before full admission into the 42 Adelaide  program.

It's 4 weeks long, designed to gear you up to learn the basics of programming with peers like you.

The Piscine is a chance for you to discover your passion for learning programming  in the context of the collaborative culture 42 foster and is a chance for you to learn programming from scratch or dive deeper in your skillset and get a taste for whether 42 is a good match for you.

PEER LEARNING

We believe the most effective way to learn is through collaborative engagement with your peers. 42 is structured to help you become resourceful without depending on teachers or lecturers. We have NO formal classrooms, schedules or teachers. You learn from and with your peers. We immerse you into an environment where you are driven to research and share knowledge to solve problems you do not (yet) know how to solve. Guidance from 42 Adelaide facilitators is provided throughout the whole process, but we emphasize the value of self-learning and teamwork.

GAMIFICATION

Our Curriculum is set up like a game. You earn points for completed projects and rewarded for achievements, and your level unlocks milestones. Gamified learning approaches are proven to make you learn faster. You understand things much quicker when you are fully engaged in what you are learning!

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Our project-based curricula consists of real-world problems where your goals are achieved by unleashing creativity, solving practical challenges, and working on hands-on projects with increasing difficulty. You learn how to understand, apply theory and tools, adopt new skills, and work in a team with minimal direction. We equip you to succeed and navigate the fast changes in the software industry!

REAL WORLD SKILLS

The dual focus on hard skills, soft skills and entrepreneurship ensures the development of highly sought-after interpersonal abilities that differentiates our graduates. You learn how to pursue excellence and gain confidence by always seeking new information, collaborating and discussing in teams, setting goals and deadlines, and thinking for yourself. You gain skills for life!

YOUR OWN PATH AND PACE

Complete freedom and flexible pace to design learning paths. Once you have acquired a solid base in programming, you have full liberty to choose projects that allow you to gain knowledge in the areas and topics that interest you the most. You can tailor your schedule and learning pace to your needs with our campus that is open 24/7, 365 days a year. We set milestones, but you take charge of your time and learn when you feel most productive.

Askaka Mouginot

Software Developer @ Blade

"Before hearing about 42 I went to a public college for IT sciences. I kept waiting to learn about and do real things, but it never happened. I was simply bored with cold science, and knowledge that was just not in line with the needs of a modern developer's life and work. Then I saw 42's study program, which gave me no timeline, but just a comprehensive list of what 42 students had to realise at the time. I went to Paris immediately, I met amazing people and learned so much about life from them, and I worked with professionals on common projects, which helped through the transition to the work world. Now that I'm working, I continue to grow using the tools 42 gave me: quick and efficient learning, sociability and a general misunderstanding of the concept of "end of day".
